From the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945 until 1989, the two rival ideologies clashed in a ruthless struggle.
The world was divided into two blocs, between which clashed mainly in the arms race and the conquest of space, but also in entertainment for children and adolescents. The post-war European population was transformed by the baby boom. Both camps tried their best to secure their dominance by influencing and controlling children and adolescents.
On both sides of the Iron Curtain, the two powers published many magazines and produced thousands of films (mostly cartoons) aimed at the baby-boomers in an attempt to influence their imagination.
Wasn’t our thinking influenced from an early age by these comics and children’s publications, which shaped our imagination and that of future generations and helped liberal capitalism to triumph?
